Yesterday Andy and Scott continued their quest to uncover more of Milnrow’s heritage by uncovering more of our hidden gravestones. It’s hard graft but uncovering the stones and revealing names of those who lived and worked in Milnrow before the turn of the century is a real reward.
Check out the stones revealed so far in the before and after pictures below. If you look carefully there’s an awful lot of stones in our yard!

We received a fabulous surprise on Tuesday evening, 12th September 2017, Waiting for us on the steps of the main gate was a decorated pebble, or more importantly, a Milnrow and Newhey Pebble.

Last Saturday, 9th September 2017, Linda Adshead and her team hosted a Coffee Morning in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support. The event was a huge success with an excellent attendance from people across the whole community of Milnrow. On the day the team raised £444.
Thank you to Linda and her team and to everyone who supported the event.

Friends of Milnrow Parish are pleased to announce they are holding a Last Night of the Proms with our friends from Middleton Brass Band.
The event will be held in church on Saturday 14th October 2017 starting at 7:30pm. Tickets are now available from Andrew Harrison or from Villages Treasures on Dale St., Milnrow.
Please get the date in your diaries and give this event your support. Everyone is welcome so spread the word and bring as many friends as possible.
On Saturday 1st July six of our strongest men set to work to uncover long lost grave stones within the church yard. The plan was to reduce the amount of grass cutting needed in some of our harder to reach parts of the church yard. As the stones started to appear not only did the church yard start to look more aesthetically pleasing but we realised the wealth of heritage being uncovered. Do stop and take a look at the stones uncovered.
Given how much better the churchyard now looks we plan to repeat this initiative over the summer period. So if you’d like to lend a hand uncovering a few stones we’d love to welcome you on board. Send us your email address to st.jamesmilnrow@outlook.com and we’ll add you to our mailing list.

The rain held off, the sun shone, just leaving the Banner Team with the challenge of a brisk breeze to deal with! Thanks gentlemen, you did a great job.
Thanks once again to Middleton Brass Band for providing the perfect marching atmosphere. You can see why they were so successful at this years Whit Friday Band Contest.
